Filterval enligt ISO 10121-3
Molecular filters have to be tough—the World Health Organization's (WHO) global air quality guidelines define strict limit values for indoor air quality. Molecular filters are designed to remove specific gaseous pollutants from the air over a specific period of time and deliver the highest possible capacity.
Select the appropriate air filter depending on the quality of the outside air (ODA) and the requirements for the supply air (SUP) in typical applications (see table below).
The data for the categories illustrated in the Eurovent 4/26-2024 recommendation refer to the WHO guidelines established in 2021.
Categories of outside air (outside air categories in relation to gas concentrations)
Requirements for supply air (SUP) depending on facility use (general/industrial)
How do you determine the minimum required air filter efficiency for a building?
Once you have established the quality of the outside air and know the required application range of the molecular air filter, what comes next? This helpful table from the Eurovent 4/26-2024 guideline gives you a quick overview of molecular filters’ required air filter efficiency for your application.
Category | SUP 1 (G) | SUP 2 (G) | SUP 3 (G) | SUP 4 (G) | SUP 5 (G) |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
ODA 1 (G) | 70% * | - | - | - | - |
ODA 2 (G) | 80%** | 70%** | 50%* | - | - |
ODA 3 (G) | 90%** | 80%** | 70%* | - | - |

Air filter efficiency: Use the ISO 10121-3 guideline to choose the right molecular air filter

The ISO 10121-3 guideline provides a quick-and-easy approach to selecting the right air filter: the first classification system for molecular filters in ventilation systems.
The transparent and easy-to-understand filter categories defined in ISO 10121-3 make selecting the right molecular filter for a specific supply air application simple. ISO 10121-3 molecular filter categories consist of three parts, as follows:
- Name of the pollutant gas that the filter must remove from the air (e.g., ozone, SO2, toluene, etc.)
- Filter performance category—vLD (very light duty), LD (light duty), MD (medium duty), or HD (heavy duty)
- Average efficiency of the filter in relation to the corresponding pollutant gas throughout the filter's entire service life
