Airports

Protect passengers, staff and visitors. Cut costs and on-site workload.
Save energy.

The challenge

Airports welcome nearly nine billion passengers a year1 to pass through their terminals and jet off around the globe. Add in airline employees, ground crew, airport staff and other visitors, and vast quantities of people move in and out of an airport every day. As they arrive, airborne pollution washes in, and a host of particles collected on their clothes, skin and luggage enter with them.

At the same time, taxis, cars, buses, luggage transport, catering trucks, maintenance vans and ground crew vehicles travel to, from and around terminal buildings – emitting exhaust fumes, brake dust and particles from tire abrasion close to entrances and air intakes.

Last but not least, the aircraft themselves are responsible for polluting the environment around the terminal building – giving off fumes, unburned hydrocarbons and unpleasant odors.

All this activity raises the level of pollutants in an airport, and makes it difficult to create the welcoming, pleasant and healthy environment that makes people want to return.

The solution

With airport filtration solutions from MANN+HUMMEL, you can trap harmful substances, and provide cleaner air inside and outside of your terminal buildings. Our airport air filter solutions prevent the spread of pollutants – creating a healthier environment for passengers and reducing staff sickness. Our gas phase filters remove harmful gases and unpleasant odors – making your indoor environment a more pleasant place to be, and encouraging travelers to spend longer in foodservice and retail outlets. Furthermore, efficient particle filtration protects the airport building and air conditioning systems – reducing cleaning and maintenance requirements.

MANN+HUMMEL has extensive experience of working with some of the biggest and busiest airports in world – ensuring that the air in their buildings is safe and cleaned in the most efficient way. We have enabled them to reduce energy costs, filter spend and on-site workload. And we have helped them lower their impact on the wider environment too.
