ScandMist oil and emulsion separators offer excellent flexibility and reduce operating costs
At the Moulding Expo trade fair in Stuttgart May 21 to 24, MANN+HUMMEL will present ScandMist mechanical oil and emulsion separators for the mechanical engineering industry. They are equipped with EC motors and are therefore particularly energy-efficient and reduce operating costs. The modular design also makes them especially flexible, easy to service and suitable for nominal flow rates of 100,000 m3/h.

At the Moulding Expo trade fair in Stuttgart May 21 to 24, MANN+HUMMEL will present ScandMist mechanical oil and emulsion separators for the mechanical engineering industry. They are equipped with resistor-controlled EC motors which considerably reduce energy costs and minimize noise emissions. In contrast to electrostatic systems which have to be serviced several times per year, the extraction systems of MANN+HUMMEL do not require maintenance for up to two years. All the filtration stages are easy to service through access using a single door. Operators benefit from the advantages of ScandMist with savings in operating costs in comparison to other systems available on the market.
The modular design of the product makes it very flexible, with the possibility to combine a single oil eliminator with a machining center or the possibility to link several oil eliminators to a central oil separator. Using a single unit MANN+HUMMEL covers nominal flow rates up to 6,000 m3/h and using multiple units linked to a central system flow rates up to or even higher than 100,000 m3/h can be covered. Customers are able to benefit from MANN+HUMMEL's extensive range of standard products or alternatively select customized solutions.
MANN+HUMMEL mechanical separators are fitted as standard with three filtration stages, with two stages consisting of coalescence separators and a third stage comprising a HEPA filter. These filtration stages separate up to 99.95% of the aerosols. Depending on the application, further filtration stages can be fitted upstream or downstream. For example, a demister stage can be fitted upstream to retain metal shavings, or an activated carbon stage can be fitted downstream to remove undesired odors.
Furthermore, the extensive range of filters from MANN+HUMMEL can be used to adapt the extraction systems to the respective application and enable a minimum quantity of lubrication.
The oil and emulsion mist eliminators for the mechanical engineering industry protect the health of employees working in the production process. The cooling lubricants used in the processes of grinding, turning and milling result in oil and emulsion mist. In contrast to existing solutions on the market which work with electrostatic or centrifugal separators, MANN+HUMMEL mechanical oil mist eliminators are easy to service and separate fine particles with a size of PM.1 which are particularly harmful to health. These fine particles can trigger dermatitis, asthma and other lung diseases.
