Providing clean air in cities:
MANN+HUMMEL at Smart City Expo World Congress 2019

  • Cleaner air in cities thanks to MANN+HUMMEL filter columns
  • MANN+HUMMEL presents digital advertising screens with integrated fine dust filter

Ludwigsburg, 15. November 2019 – Many cities around the world struggle with air pollution and high concentration of fine dust and nitrogen dioxide (NO2). At this year´s Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona, filtration expert MANN+HUMMEL will show how the company provides city residents with cleaner air.

Filter columns filter fine dust and nitrogen dioxide

Many urban residents suffer from the effects of exposure to fine dust and nitrogen dioxide. As a contribution to solving this problem, MANN+HUMMEL has developed a filter cube system that captures more than 80 percent of the nitrogen dioxide and fine dust from the air. The so-called Filter Cubes are modular and can be used to reduce fine dust only or, depending on requirements, additionally NO2 in the combi-filter design edition. As part of a pilot project supported by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Transport, 23 of these columns are already helping to clean Stuttgart's Neckartor, a city section which is particularly congested by traffic. The Filter Cubes are also available for closed and semi-closed areas and can be adapted to existing infrastructures to meet the given space and functional requirements.

Digital screens with integrated fine dust filters

In cooperation with STRÖER, the leading German marketer for online and outdoor advertising, MANN+HUMMEL has now integrated this filtration technology into digital advertising media. The prototype, which will be exhibited at the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona for the first time, is equipped with an LED screen and can broadcast editorial content in real time. The City´s residents as well as travelers can thus be informed and protected from increased particulate pollution at the same time. This technology can be implemented outdoors and in semi-closed areas, such as (underground) stations and bus stops.
