Swine Farms

The challenge

EU pork producers lose an estimated €1.5bn each year to PRRSv1

Maintaining a bio-secure livestock farm is a never-ending process. Even if nearly all your controls are perfect, one slip or gust of wind from the wrong direction can bring devastation from which it can take years to recover. That’s because many of the viruses, bacteria and pathogens that swine farmers must contend with spread widely, easily and through every transmission vector possible. These viruses also often mutate rapidly, making consistently effective vaccination difficult. Winds can carry these pathogens over long distances too, so even if you are relatively isolated, the risk remains. And that risk is significant. Each year in the EU alone, pork producers lose an estimated 1.5 billion Euros to Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome Virus (PRRSv).1

At the same time, dust, dirt, and pollution from industrial and agricultural processes pose a threat to the health of your staff. These same contaminants can also have a negative impact on product quality and animal health – particularly important in breeding facilities due to the longer life span of sows.

While installing a ventilation system may seem a significant investment, this can be easily outweighed by the cost of even a single outbreak.

The solution

Pig farm air filters trap pathogens before they have a chance to pose a risk to your herds – ensuring that only clean and healthy air is allowed to enter your barn. Air filtration has long been used to control pathogens in hospitals and cleanrooms — and they are now well-established as a crucial tool for swine farms too.

Swine farms with air filtration systems are eight times less likely to suffer an outbreak than those without.2

For more than 60 years, our filters have been in service in cleanrooms and operating rooms around the world – protecting people and the wider environment from some of the most dangerous viruses, substances and other contaminants known to man. We’ve taken this expertise and applied it to the agriculture industry. You can trust our swine farm air filters to protect your livestock, your team and your business.
